While We're On The Subject...
Moving on. The dog is gone.
While I miss her, sort of, it sure is nice not to have a crazy person running around stealing and hoarding underwears and tissues in the santa barbara daisy patches on the hill. Or slowly plucking my tulip petals one by one and then slowly prancing by me with one or two sticking out of her mouth.
She's with a good person in a good home, with lots of other dogs and horses and plenty of room to run. And I think maybe even cows.
But more about me. Right now I have insomnia. I think it's that last day of vacation, all of the sudden brain turned on at midnight remembering all the stuff that didn't get done before we left and has now piled up in all areas, type of insomnia.
And lately I'm not riding my bike very much.
And I'm kind of hungry right now.
And I'm over saturated with camping. No more camping this year please. No more rolling up of therm-a-rests. No more smelly sleeping bags. No more trying to set up tents in pitch black on Friday night after sitting in traffic for hours. Please. No more melted shoes. No more marshmellows sticking to my hair. No more mosquito bites on my ass please. At least not until next summer, when I've forgotten.
Maybe I'm getting old, but the last few weekends of camping have had me daydreaming of camper vans. The exact ones that I poopoo'd only a few years ago because I felt those who used them weren't tough enough to rough it.
But now I kind of think insomnia in a tent is even less pleasant then insomnia at home.

Glad you found a good home for your border collie. Kinda missed you. So the vacation is over? Does this mean we will read more from you again and that you will ride your bike more often again?
Hey Stranger!
How's it going? We haven't seen you for ages.
I have been waiting patiently for one of these so that camping won't be quite so hard on the old bones.....

Alas, the website is down, so I hope they haven't decided to call it a day. It's been in the works for a few years.
I get camping insomnia, too. All the new smells and sounds. Haven't managed to do it enough lately to be sick of it, though.
There is a woman-owned company around here that rents vintage airstreams. They'll tow them for you and everything. One of the parks she offers is in Coloma, where I grew up. http://www.silvertrailer.com/rentals+sales.php
Oh, holy crap, I pasted the link and THEN checked the prices. Maybe don't go to that site after all.
glad to have you back in the blogsphere if just for a moment.
i already commented on facebook, but just had to stop in and say hi!
I'm with you...drooling over camper trailers, pop-ups, Scamps and the like. So, I'm soft!
cross season is starting soon, so i think i will digest how out of shape i am and try and write more here. i think.
both the airstream and the crazy solar van look fun! i like that concept van. i wonder how much...
i had a dream with you in it last night. You were riding your bike alone and were going to camp someplace overnight....i thought, wow, that Lauren is TOUGH.

Getting old is only in our mind.
Age never prevented people from doing things:
